This blog post features images from our exterior RISE at Riverfront Crossings Iowa City photography architectural shoot. The two-tower, mixed-use complex development rises 15-stories high. The new, high-rise towers make for an attractive, modern update to downtown Iowa City’s expanding skyline.

The metal and glass, duo-tower architecture, modern skyscraper development is home to two new businesses in Iowa City Hyatt Place Hotel Iowa City Downtown and off-campus student housing residential apartments RISE at Riverfront Crossings. Focusing on the building’s exterior photography, the building shoot of the two-towers highlights the property’s mixed-use, and façade construction design. The new construction Iowa City project is both an urban residential, student housing development, mixed with hotel hospitality downtown in Iowa City. The Rise at Riverfront Crossings development achieved LEED Gold Certification for sustainability.

Chicago-based photographers, we travel to Iowa, around the Midwest, and we are often booking travel architecture shoots Nationwide! Upon final construction completion, our client who is the manufacturer and installation construction company of the glass and metal building enclosures, requested portfolio marketing architectural images looking for us to highlight in photography the modern architecture’s metal & glass. The high-rise property and Iowa architectural photography shoot included capturing both day and night exterior building photographs of RISE and the Hyatt Place Hotel in Iowa City. The photos focused on construction marketing portfolio photos to showcase the final construction of the large mixed-use property site capturing both the hospitality and luxury apartment student housing complex towers. The location offered an excellent setting for adding drone aerial building photos, in additional to the daytime, and eye-catching sunrise or night dusk exterior photography of the property. We are photographers who have photographed several luxury apartment and condo development photography & similar architecture designed development student housing projects.

The modern luxury, 2-story high-rise and mid-rise Iowa development property with underground parking garage is located in downtown Iowa City within the downtown’s university area. The mixed-use development complex is steps away from the University of Iowa campus. RISE is the University of Iowa’s new student apartments and premium upscale housing, off-campus living apartment community. Offering brand new, stunning interior design and rooms inside, these apartments feature the latest in upscale student housing trends and amenities. Our photography client continues to be building Nationwide, constructing numerous luxury, and upscale student housing developments with unique, incredible modern architecture & building design. The mixed-use development and RISE at Riverfront Crossings incorporates all the extras expected in luxury dorm, off-campus living. Unique to other student housing projects we’ve photographed, for this Iowa City development’s design it offers the convenience of an on-site Hyatt Place hotel for student’s parents and visitors to rent a hotel room in the adjoining tower near by.

Capturing exterior building photography of the two, 15-story and high-rise towers that create the new Iowa City downtown skyline, our shoot includes photos of the property’s outdoor facade, multiple entrances into the mixed-use development, the residential rental courtyard with pool deck for student’s pool-side lounging featuring an outdoor Jumbo-Tron to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes play where fire pits and grilling stations are nearby. With a long list of amenities on the Rise at Riverfront Crossings, student’s apartments tower, which go above and beyond standard student living, it was easily recognizable these apartments provide a luxury living space that gives University of Iowa students a comfortable, chic retreat from the hustle and bustle of academic life. The Rise and the Hyatt Place Hotel Iowa City twin towers offers both a luxury housing apartment building and luxurious hotel. Both are a great location near downtown Iowa City’s shopping & restaurants, and an easy walk to the U of I campus. The two-tower luxury student residence and hotel are located close to the Iowa River in downtown Iowa City. For hotel guests or student residents needing a break from studying, the nearby Iowa River waterfront park has walking & biking trails and opportunities for students who enjoy river boating & recreation too. Additional exterior building perks include the convenient, on-site parking garage located under the building.

Our client, a Commercial Construction Company, commissioned Miller + Miller Architectural Photography to capture exterior photos of The Gems World Academy building located in Downtown Chicago. The Gems World Academy Chicago is a private, K-12 campus school created for the City of Chicago’s elite students. This new Chicago educational development is described as hotel-esque, collegiate, and upscale for affluent children with tuition noted at incredible $30,000/year per pupil.

This isn’t our first project photographing an education building architectural photography photos shoot. During this project, our image focus was on the skyscraper school, high-rise building construction and architectural pictures of the finished building. We captured architectural pictures of the state-of-the-art school building in Chicago showcasing the building’s primary entrances and angles on the south & west elevations. Each side of the property’s facade has a playful mix of glass, metal, and unique use of bold colors. As a Chicago Architectural Photographer specializing in new construction and unique architecture building photography, we travel the Nation photographing buildings and shooting photos of many of the United State’s best architecturally designed buildings. We enjoyed the modern & strategic use of material details within this building’s design. The modernist facade elevations of Gems World Academy utilizes eye-catching primary colors. Our client requested day time exterior building photography showing off the building’s unique curtain wall and color filled exterior facade panels. The distinctive mid-rise building stands out within the Chicago skyline with modern interlacing and stripes in red, yellow and blue.

This is 1 out of our 15 buildings we photographed for our Commercial Construction Company’s architectural client photography project. Photos of Chicago’s GEMS World Academy will go up in our client’s portfolio and as printed images in frames hanging on the Construction Company’s office walls. During office tours, photos of GEMS World Academy have a story to tell. The story will have three parts: GEMS’s construction development, the property’s interesting colorful & unique architecture which is highly photographic as a picture printed inside a frame, and the built building’s purpose as an upscale academy. A building & images with a very interesting story.

The Gems World Academy Chicago building is a 16-story structure, 322,000 square feet school and the property hosts approximately 2,100 students. Commercial construction developers completed phase 1 in 2014. The modern educational development has won awards building design awards, spotlighted in an issue of Architectural Record, and received the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Citation of Merit for Building Innovation from the Illinois chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

The GEMS World Academy Chicago and development is located in downtown Chicago. The GEMS building, located on Water Street near Wacker Drive, has an address of 350 East South Water Street Chicago, IL 60601. The private school, academy is conveniently located in the heart of the City of Chicago. GEMS World Academy Chicago is the first PreK-12 school in the United States from GEMS Education. How amazing is it that Chicago was picked to host to the academy’s first private school in the United States. A mid-rise skyscraper within the Chicago skyline located in the Lakeshore East community, just east of the Loop. The GEMS World Academy program operates private schools in Chicago and is connected to the GEMS education global network of international schools with school sites currently in China, Egypt, India, Kenya and beyond, with additional locations opening soon in Egypt, Uganda, Switzerland and United Arab Emirates. The GEMS World Academy Phase 2 building construction is underway. Building awards include: AIA IL 2016 Mies van der Rohe Citation of Merit, IIDA RED Award: Exemplary Design in Educational – PK12 Interiors, ENR Midwest Best Projects Award of Merit: K-12 Education, and ASA Chicago Outstanding Project 2015.

This post features example renovation pictures & commercial interior photography from a recent shoot in a lunchroom cafeteria on a corporate headquarters, training & education building. Our commercial construction client called us to book the photography shoot soon after the corporate construction building’s renovation had completed. The new lunchroom, modern cafe, cafeteria design project design was within phase two of the corporate campus construction, build out and office renovation. We photographed a lunchroom on the campus of a private academy a few years ago. So this was not our first cafeteria lunchroom photography shoot, nor the largest lunchroom we have photographed inside a large corporate facility, but it was the most colorful and creative of spaces.
