Our Chicago hotel building exterior photography shoot of the Marriott Marquis Chicago Hotel Skyscraper occurred a few days after the Marriott International Hotel Company first opened the Marriott Marquis’ doors on September 10th. Our architectural photography and Chicago hotel photographer husband & wife company met with our Construction Company client over the Summer to discuss photographing several Chicago area buildings. Our photography company has experience in hotels, hospitality & resort photography in Chicago and beyond. Our client booked not only Chicago hotel photography, but 15 finished construction building photo projects for the company’s marketing department portfolio, press releases, and promotional imagery. The architectural Chicago hotel photography of the Marriott Marquis Chicago Hotel need to be timed and scheduling of the photo shoot was in the early Fall season – awaiting the exterior building construction completion.
Our architectural photography company incorporated in 2006 and based in Chicago has photographed hotel additions, hospitality renovations, architecture, and hotel construction photography over the years. The Marriott Marquis hotel is one of the tallest hotel skyscraper in Chicago to be built and during construction has also been called Chicago’s new Mega Hotel. The 1,205 room hotel is currently Chicago’s sixth largest hotel. A modern Chicago hotel with a distinctive blue all glass curtain wall skyscraper hotel construction design. The 40-story structure in Chicago’s South Loop skyline is located near the three corners of MLK Drive, Cermak Road and Prairie Avenue. An array of photos of the new construction hotel were photographed. Photos focused on architectural hotel building images showcasing the hotel property’s full construction. As well as architectural construction details images and photography of the hotel combining in parts of the nearby convention center and arena buildings. The combo of images help to showcase not only hospitality images of the hotel, but also the property’s location adjacent to the Chicago buildings of the McCormick Place Convention Center and Wintrust Arena.
The new Marriott Marquis hotel building is one of the first with completed construction in the South Loop area’s new McCormick Square Development area. A boom of construction is underway in the rapidly-evolving McCormick Square part of town. Design Build construction companies, architects, and developers are changing the South Loop – beginning to redefine Chicago’s overall skyline moving it further to the South. Construction overall is booming in Chicago’s South Loop and is nearing delivery of thousands of new apartments and hotel rooms. Marriott Marquis Chicago, and the adjacent 10,387-seat Wintrust Arena opened in the Fall of 2017. Construction of the Marriott Marquis Chicago was by Clark Construction. The Clark Construction Group was the lead member of the design-build joint venture team called Prairie District3 Partners (PD3), partnered with the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA) whom worked together to deliver the $350 million hotel. The Clark-Led venture with Prairie District3 Partners is comprised of construction partners Clark Construction Group, Bulley & Andrews Construction Firm, LLC, Old Veteran Construction, engineering infrastructure by McKissack & McKissack Midwest, and Powers & Sons Construction Company. Last year, a highly respected and nationwide Commercial Construction company hired Miller + Miller to photograph buildings at Northwestern University. The Northwestern University Bienen School of Music & Center For Musical Arts LEED Building photos project was one building from a list of 15 impressively designed buildings for this Miller + Miller Photography construction company client. The Construction Company hired us to provide commercial design-build architectural photography property photos, with the series of photos focusing on photography of 15 Exterior Chicago Buildings Photographs for our client’s Construction Company’s portfolio. This large, multiple facilities photo project was an exciting win for us. Last year, we photographed the company’s Chicago area projects. The Bienen School of Music Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Center for the Musical Arts at Northwestern University campus facility is situated on the Evanston lakefront of Lake Michigan. The building’s impressive design and its architecture has been honorably discussed since construction’s completion. The Bienen School of Music facility is a brand new building on Northwestern University’s campus. Designed by Chicago-based architectural firm Goettsch Partners. The building’s architectural design features a limestone base supporting the impressive Z-shaped modern, reflective exterior that is primarily glass which takes maximum advantage of the lakefront location and views of the Chicago skyline from Evanston. The music and communication building on Northwestern University sits on the Evanston campus’s southeastern edge with breathtaking & inspiring views onto its’ water frontage of Lake Michigan. The new arts building is green designed and has designation of LEED gold certification award. The Northwestern University school’s new music building has been named by the Chicago Tribune in harmony with the lakefront. An architectural example of harmonization pairing the building design and well-defined purpose.
As Chicago commercial architectural photographers, it was easy to become artistically inspired while photographing the Bienen School of Music & Center building’s modern building’s eye-catching, dynamic architecture and lakefront natural setting. The contemporary building has a shooting Z-shaped mass representative of a nautical lines of a ship. The impressive architecturally designed building defines the eastern edge of the arts building, make sharp “z” shaped turning junctions from east turning to the west, sharply edging away from Lake Michigan. A large, light-filled atrium divides the university’s new additional from the original music building to create a majestic, new main entry and hall gathering space. With glass and metal architectural building elements, the new building’s architecture offers clear views on to the lake and Chicago skyline down shore. Awarded LEED Gold status, the building offers a variety of innovative features including a double-skin facade of iron and glass cladding, and a grey water system. All spaces met enormous acoustical and sound requirements, including the opera rehearsal room and choral recital. An incredible list of locations to photograph, we were impressed upon reviewing the list of 15 buildings to photograph all remarkably constructed and engineered by the Construction Company, so we simply couldn’t wait to get started. For each exterior building photo shoot, our client’s primary shoot desires were to showcase each building as one attention grabbing image for the company’s impressive construction marketing portfolio and feature those 15 best shots and images of the buildings as framed prints on the walls of their office. The company’s new Chicago headquarters had blank walls, so they desired to showcase past construction projects as wall art through the hallways, boardroom, and executive staff members offices. Although only one final shot was requested, we couldn’t resist photographing this building from multiple angles, highlighting the structure’s unbelievable architecture.
